Based on the weather forecast for last Sunday, heading NW from Boston should have kept us out of the worst of the precipitation. Shaun and I arrived in Groton to find steady snow and unplowed streets.... not the best conditions if your four wheel drive isn't working. We dump Shaun's car in town, pile all the gear into mine and head off looking for Trout and Salmon. Around 10:30am the snow turned to sleet and then rain. Clothing soaked and grills not permitted, we packed up at noon and headed home. Days score, one flag with a missing Shiner and one missing Shiner that didn't trip the flag:confused:
6" white ice over 6" of black.

Sam is full of crap....we got there around 7am. Like Bob, there was also a DEP officer there checking for liscences and equipment. Sam had his liscence but also had those slip strike dual trbble hook rigs on all hit tip ups and the officer wanted to confiscate them terminal tackle. Well Sam had a fit and as if the citatin wasn;t enough he started mouthing off to the officer and was detained. So after the fines, fingerrinting and the paperwork back at the station we got his gear back from impound and headed out on the ice.We left at noon because the officer confiscated all our bait and we had to use a coule flies Sam had in his car to jig with. The rocks we had to tie to the line to hold them deep kept falling off and we gave up.
