hi pat,
just thinking about that area put me into spring fever. thanks a lot. i am not sure how much you are willing to or will be able to travel, but pittsburg is only about 75 miles north. the connecticut river fishes well all summer long especially tnear the release behind the dams of the lakes. if you can't get that far away, there are meandering stretches of the ct that are visible from the road within about 30 miles form there. i have seen people fishing it from a drift boat believe it or not. it is always worth a try.
hope this helps and forgive me if i posted the obvious...

It's been many years since I fished it but the Swift River had lots of willing brookies. It runs along the Kancamangas west of Conway. They seemed to be totally unmolested in the sections that weren't so close to the road, out past the last of the Natl Forsest areas. I think all the brooks that run under the road there dump into the Swift. We used to follow them in but some may be a good pretty hike.

Practically within walking distance of the hotel is the Ammonoosuc river, heavily stocked in June. The waterfall areas can be a zoo, however. Zealand pond has brookies(2.3 mi easy walk from parking). Sawyer river has trout, the farther from the road the better. The Swift and the Saco get heavy pressure and have long stretches of unproductive water. Also many of the small brooks in the area have native(aka small)brookies. Hope this helps.
