I think it's down east, around Mt. Dessert.

Hoooo! Boy its been a long winter. As you're facing the captains lady from shore turn your head to the left (west)towards Newburyport. That large expanse of water and mud that you see, depending on the tide, is Joppa Flats.
Do a search on this site and you'll find numerous posts on access, tides, flies etc.
Good Luck

Geez, I used to think it was in Newburyport too. But, every time I followed your directions all I saw was birds, boats, kayaks, canoes, float tubes, bireds, boats, etc.
I did hear the best time to fish Joppa, if you want room to drift and cast is in on a full-moon midnight tide, on a weekday in February,

I keep forgetting most people can only get out on a weekend. Working 2nd shift is a good thing as it allows me to go out in the middle of the week and avoid the crowds. I avoid Plum Island on a weekend after 7:00 am on Saturday. Even the weekdays it starts to get crowded around then. I try to get out there just before dawn. Although the older I get the harder that is to do. Who needs sleep?????
