Scituate Harbor boat ramp is concrete and in good repair. Busy on the weekends and is accessible at all stages of the tide. Like many concrete ramps, it is slick at the bottom at low tide, so 4wd may be needed. Marine Fuel is available nearby.

There is limited parking, and it infuriates me because on busy weekends there are always 4 -5 boneheads that park their non-trailering vehicles in the long spots CLEARLY marked "For Trailers Only." Whenever I see these guys I usually call the Scituate cops and ask them to ticket, but so far it hasn't deterred the boneheads much. I've seen other guys get so mad they've left rude messages on windshields or expressed their annoynace in other, more costly ways.

Also - watch out for flaring tempers on weekend afternoons - this ramp seems to draw a good number of meatheads (you'll recognize them by the 20 - 30 empty Bud cans rattling around their hull and their bright red sunburns)...maybe that explains the parking situation, too.

I used this ramp on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 to launch my 20' center console.

This is an excellent (free) facility. There appears to be parking for at least 20 trucks with trailers and about 10 spots for vehicles without trailers.

At low tide there is a crack in the ramp that is exposed that could cause a problem when retrieving a boat with a non four wheel drive vehicle. I could see where your trailer tires could get hung up on the break in the concrete and the tow vehicle could have a problem.

The most challenging thing I found when using this ramp is negotiating the mooring field to exit the harbor!
