Salem ramp at the Kernwood bridge Salem side in Danvers River. Little rough at the bottom, extreme low tides will cause the ramp to be closed till the tide fills back in. $5 great parking can seem like a long walk in hot weather. Can be busy at times.

"Little rough at the bottom"

Ha ha. I have seen the bottom of that ramp many times and it is awful. I waited 3 hours from dead low on a minus tide one day to use it. She claimed that all the ramps in the area that day were like that. (#$119) I used it as an excuse to do more fishing and glad I did as I found a nice pod of bass out in the sound that day.

I think the fee went up to $15 for non-res there. I stopped using it after that. Really wish there was a better alternative in the area that is accessible early and late in the day. Winter island is the best in the area for access but the hours are annoying.

In fact it would be great to have more membership offerings to public access. I would easily pay up to $100 a year to be able to use a ramp anytime I wanted to.

As of March 27,the Kernwood ramp is being repaired,......looks like they are repairing the concrete ramp to the water and beyond the low water section. As some of us know ,that it was getting worse(scary) over the years.Hopefully we will not have to worry about our trailers getting stuck for awhile.

just saw this, should had put my post here insterad. Anyone know the status of when this will be completed? I know there were plans for a complete overhaul in the fall and put in two docks. Now all we need is the Mass Bay bridge to be open 24hrs....

If you time it right or with a short boat the bowling alley across the bridge can be a good back up. Do not have the address or such but it is just after the first bridge up that side river. Just happened to find it when using the car wash nearby to remove an amazing amount of bait that got puked up by bluefish.

Well ,I will admit that my prediction about the completion of the ramp was way off.
Hmm, "maybe" by Memorial Day weekend?

you can time the massbay bridge with a few of beverly's most hardcore lobstermen for a pre 4am swing almost every day. once they get on their summer fishing schedule its very predictable to just ride through with them.

I've been walking the dog at the site/ramp each night and questioning the status as well. It is been interesting watching their progress, but I am starting to wonder when, and what will be completed. They did fianlly start to dig the lowest area to make the ramp more accessible at low tide this week, and looks like a lot materials arrived to today so they can start pouting concrete! Hard to say when this will completed...

Progress was made today! Concrete was poured! The new ramp goes out past the dock! They still have many sections to complete, but everything is primed and ready to go. I would be shocked if it isn't opened by Memorial Day.

HHHMMM, about halfway done with the concrete, seems to not be going as planned as they have pulled/dug up some initial concrete after it set. They seem to be making some progress, but I am done guessing when this is going to be wrapped up anyone else?

July 1st is the confirmed date......I guess green harbor will have to do until then.....

It opened on Sunday! Very good pitch, looks to accessible about 99% of the time. I heard a 42' boat was taken out near low. I think a realy big minus tide will be a little interesting, but a big improvement. Ramp is accessible 24 hours a day

THERE IS NO RAMP AT KERNWOOD! IT IS CLOSED FOREVER...DON"T EVEN TRY TO GO THERE! ;)

Okay...maybe not :brow

But, it certainly has the potential to be the best kept secret on the North Shore...let's let everyone keep going to Winter Island!

I will say it is looking VERY nice down there....checked it out at a minus tide yesterday and there was still ramp to spare! I must say I'm impressed...might have taken some more time then expected, but well worth the wait.

How come nobody mentioned Popes Landing? Lots of fish in Porter River to chase before you pass Kernwood.
