Ladies and Gents,

Be warned that the boat ramp at Popes Landing (Owned by the town of Danvers) is dangerous to you and your boat. Stupid design of ramp and insane placement right in front of heavy current on outgoing tide along with two raised concrete sides that are 2-1/2 feet higher than the ramp that extend the length of the ramp but are submerged under water. The town has no signs warning of these obstruction (#$119) . I was told that in the past the town did have warning of the obstructions but they are no longer in place.

Guess what? The first time I try to pull my boat out of that ramp and "BANG", there goes my stainless prop and lower unit of my new Suzuki 200DF outboard --124-3. I looked at the submerged concrete sides at low tide and they are chewed to **** by other props that have fallen victim. My question is this: Should the city of Danvers be held liable for not warning of a known obstruction? If so, how would you proceed forward with filing a complaint. Any info would be much appreciated. I have insurance that should cover the damage but I'm ****ed that the town is negligent for not warning about a known hazard.

Winthrop has the same kind of ramp but w/o the current. What kills me are the holes and sudden drop-offs at the bottom of some ramps. It's gotten to the point where I keep my waders in the truck so that I can walk in and check out ramps when using them for the first time. Those holes can come in handy on moon tides though. Sesuit has a nice one that I took advantage of on Saturday :)

Bummer on your motor though :(

I wanted to go there today. Heard it was closed due to them working on it. Likely due to the massive flooding?

Not sure but I used the one at the kernwood bridge. The woman in charge there said that she was next (so that on may close for a short period of time for repairs as well).

Was told that the town had money budgeted for repair of the ramp that if they didnt use they were going to lose. It was supposed to be closed at mermorial day, but i think it might be open through the end of this week. It was last night when I went by.

Kerwood is still and option, but you're right, they are going to close for some minor repairs, and it think its still 5 bucks to put in. Also, depending on the tides you can try behind the bowlamat in beverly or even the beach ramp at the end of water street depending on the size of your boat.
