Anyone have thoughts on the LED "all-around" white stern lghts that are available now? I think I could easily run one off this 7 AH battery I have now as well. Catalogs don't list the actual current they draw but wouldn't think it could be much at all. 4 AA battery version is $22.00 and runs 100-200 hours on a set of batteries, 12v version is abt $40.

I would get the light that runs off either D or AA batteries. But you can use the light using the 12v battery. But I would check to see how long you could run the FF and the light at the same time continuously with a fully charged battery. The FF will last a few days on a full charge but I'm not sure how long it would last with the light on 2. By knowing how long both will run off the battery you won't have to worry about the battery going to low to run either or.

I've found that my 7Ah 12v will almost totally drain after a night of fishing with the FF backlight on. For high load situations you could always add a second one though.

Both good comments. I'll dig around until I find the current draw on both the FF and the LEDs. I'd probably use the backlight on the FF continuously but the LED rarely, just where needed. Won't be much use if the battery is low and won't fire it up, though, so the battery version might be better anyway. I think I ran an LED headlamp all season on one set of batteries. Would probably be the same for a bigger array of LEDs given the limited use it would get.

Sam,

You fish with the lights on! Hmmmmm! this may explain your lack of "putting fish in the boat" success. At night Surf casters turn their backs to the surf when they need a light. Lights on the water = "No fish for you!

Now that we have solved that night fishing problem, we can start seeking the dawn to dusk problem you seem to have with putting any fish over the size of a bait fish in the yak!.

Your loops are tight, presentation perfect and equipment above average. Did you ever **** off that Hatian Voodo Palm Reader who lives near the "Combat Zone"?

There is a chance one of you fishing buds, may have paid her to put the "$5.00 Bad Luck For You Curse" on you for reasons unknown.

It might be time for an excorism! Ya never know! Have you been to Church lately?
