key lantern motel

Has anyone stayed at key lantern motel. I found two reviews on the net one says it was clean and comfortable, and the other was a big thumbs down. I've booked a room at Bud and Mary's but the price difference is enough to book another half day charter. Any feedback would be very helpful.

I've never stayed there, and it's been five years since I've been to the Keys. Last time down I took a peek inside one of their rooms. Looked fine, nice and clean, at least as clean as other motels. I was staying at the Shoreline. Two things to consider. Because Key Lantern is the least expensive place to stay it might sometimes draw in people you wouldn't really want on the other side of the wall. There is an event in the Islamorada area called Bartenders in Paradise. Basically it is a bartenders convention. It takes place, (I think) in the middle of May. If you are staying in the area when this event is going on you might be exposed to some loud nights no matter where you stay.

My brother and I stayed there last June. It's clean and confortable, try and get a room away from the Lori Lei. I'd think it fine for a couple of guys fishing but if you're bringing mama along you might want to go up a notch. I'd stay there again.
