There is a public ramp on the right side of the Nahant Causway, just south of the traffic circle. I believe it is owned by the MDC. It is strategically located but in terrible condition and unusable with a heavy boat at low tide. Launching is safest from half tide to full then half.

There is no charge for use as I'm sure MDC would be ashamed to do so in the condition this ramp is in. Plenty of parking.

There is also a free city owned ramp in Lynn harbor off Blossom St. Ext. It's just off the lynn way and very close to the state ramp. The ramp is in much better condition than the state ramp. Just make sure to lock everything before heading out.

Coincidentally, my boys and I checked out the 2 Lynn ramps on 03/24/07. Both ramps are in lousy shape, the fall and winter has not been kind to them. I would use the ramps at Winter Island in Salem or Winthrop harbor before using either of these ramps, if possible.
