I saw this article at the "Game and Fish" web site and thought you guys might enjoy it. Makes the idea of landing a BFT on a yak not so far fetched. www.gameandfishmag.com/saltwater/gf_aa016102a/

The number of kayakers landed by Makos is slightly higher than the reverse!!!

I saw a guy catch an 8 foot black tip from a long board in Hawaii. I was quite impressed to say the least.

Notice this guy used a boat to bring the shark back? In a lot of similar type articles most guys don;t use the katyak the whole time. H may have padled all the way back , but he did it without the shark. If you don't use the kayak to do all the work, start to finish, is it the same? I think if you are going to target bigger less traditionally caught fish, you should have to do ALL the work with the kayak. Any thoughts?
Hmmm, you'd be some doing some serious chumming towing that sucker back. Or you could stow it in the hatches. How much ice you figure for a 172 lb shark?

As I said to my kayak paddling shark catching girlfriend with a wooden leg.......Peg... this is not a topic for dragging your feet.

I agree, its a whole lot more work, but you don't climb to the top of a mountain to wait for a helicopter to come pick you up...
Shaun,
I offically dub thee - Yak fishing's first purist! No worms for you! Sir Shaun!
JoeV, we have a yak Saint amoung us! All praise and glory to the first in our R-T bunch who lands a Mako!
Of course he will have to buy us all a round at that infamous Chatham beer joint to wet down the shark adventure properly!
Fish cheeks, anyone?

Of course, you don't climb the mountain, throw an extra 172 lbs on yr back and ramble on home either.
A 50 pd bass would put me on the edge of my weight limit. No matter them guys like the Fish n Dive with a 550 pd weight limit.
RJ I will take Shauns worms they work quite well around here :)

Thats a good point Wes, didn't look at it that way. I guess that was a bad example...
Never the less, that was still quite a fish...

OK, time for a reminder of this story and a little reality check. This unlucky captain was on a big boat.
