Hi. Can someone give a Yankee some advice? I will be in Jacksonville fishing from a kayak for redfish in mid April. What flies should I bring/tie for that trip?
Thanks

I've been fishing the Mosquito Lagoon, Banana River and Indian River Lagoon from Titusville to Sebastian Spring and Fall for a three years now. When I started, I bought some flies down there and they worked but over the three year period I've found my most prolific flies have been small Clousers and Deceivers for Redfish and Trout. Also, Dahlberg Divers for Trout.
I find I'm using Clousers and Deceivers smaller than I would for Stripers, in most instances, and that Brown and Tan are the best colors for the area I'm fishing. The Dahlbergs are tied on #1 hooks and are mostly yellow and black/yellow red/white but an all black will work just before dawn.
So, take your Striper flies and tie up a few in tan and brown.
Let us know how you do when you get back. I'm headed down there again on the first of May.
