Semper Fi, Canoeman,

I'm fishing the same area out of a orange Pungo. I launch at the last parking lot on the National Sea Shore Park.

Lots of trout and some small reds in the area. Top water flys have been doing the job on trout for me.

My old outfits were M-3-5 and 2nd Recon.

The kids in those outfits today are smarter, tougher and better looking than we were "way back when!" 3/5 along with the rest of the troops in Iraq did us all proud!

I was a Cpl. Squad Leader of the 2nd Squad, 2nd Plt, Mike Co., 3/5 in the 1st Mar Div. in 1958-59 and when 3/5 transplaced 3/3 in "59" continued that job with the 3rd Mar. Div. on Okinawa from 59 to early 61. When I retuned to the CONUS I was transfered to the 2nd Recon Bn. in LeJune and was a squad leader until I left the "Rregulars" in October, 1961. Did two tours in the reserves and ended up a "Grunt" Plt. Sgt.in the 22nd Marines in New Rochell, NY. The "best man" at my wedding wa and old 3/5 "Ponyo" who ended up as the Regentimental Sgt.Maj. for the 22nd Marines and did a fulll time tour with them during the First Gulf War in 91.

Both my brothers did tours in Nam. One a Marine Cpl. in "65-66" in I Corps and one an Army Spec 5 combat engineer in "67-68". Both came home in good shape.

My condolences for your brothers death. It's was great to hear your Dad was in M 3/5! The Corps is a small world and a tight family!

I'm heading back to NY tomorrow and plan on coming back down in Oct or Nov. My daughter and her family own a condo in NSB that is mine to use when it isn't rented.

I'm retired, a widower, father of three, grandfather of two and still not old enough to play golf. I fish, hunt and currently a dupety mayor for a little village in Upstate, NY. I sell hot dogs in the park in the summer and write a weekly column for a fishing magazine from April to Dec..
