View Full Version : Scotty Flush Mount Brackets
Has anyone used the Scotty flush mount brackets for their spinning and fly rod holders?
I am thinking of installing this optional part so I can switch rods from side-to-side as desired.
This is the part that mounts flush to the deck and accepts both rod holder types.
Thanks in advance,
Ray

Ray,
Scotty rod holders are great but you might want to look into RAM too. I just installed two on my yak. Let me know if you want to see em
Thanks Sam.
I decided to go with the Scotty ones and the flush mounting option. I'll checkout the flush mounts when I get the parts from REI next week. If I don't like them I'll stick to the standard ones.

Ps. Was hoping to put in in Winthrop this afternoon but I have too much that has to get done tonight.
Sam,
Show me the Ram- Mount rod holders.
Where did you mount them? And Why?

RJ, he mounted them in the back...reason being, so when he is bored from not catching anything he can just hang up the rods in back so nothing is obstructing the sun in front. Nobody wants those unsightly tan lines on your face from the rods blocking the sun.
Typical,
Bait Boy with a tan! He probably thinks Carley Simon is singing that "You're so vain" song about him and his little fisheys!
Sam, Sam come in Sam! They're catching striped bass up to 48 inches in my back yard. The herring are 10 to 12" fisheys and the Atlantic Shad are pushing 9 #.
You might want to think about a trip west the weekend of May 10th. We'll dust off the couch and show you the spots. Or Ruge the Rigorus will take you to his stomping grounds at the Esopus Light and show you some really large striped bass.
Think about it.
Note,
Should the striper fishing bust wide open around May 15th, you'll not see me at Goose Hummock. I only operate with a few simple rules and the Primary rule is "Never leave good fishing for the possibility of more good fishing"

Please explain. I've been wondering if any vendor had figured out how nice it would be to have a mount and holder that used a flush mount as a sleeve. I have a Heritage Fisherman, and it would be great not to have to be able to mount my fly rod in one of its three flush mounts without having to put screw in a mount. My kids will use the kayak for recreational padding, and I worry that the mount will scrape and cut.
Am I to understand that Scotty makes a fly rod holder that somehow mounts into a flush mount base?

There is one I've heard of but you can make it as well as they do. You just need a piece PVC pipe that will fit into a flush holder. Use a piece long enough to stand a foot or so above the deck and slot it to fit your rod and reel. Strap of velcro can be used to secure the rod amd a little pipe foam inside to protect yr it.
