I've recently moved to the DC area from Boston and am looking for any type of water access to wade and cast a fly for stripers or blues. Do you have any suggestions that may be within 1.5 hours from the city?
Any thoughts would be helpful.

Michaelmoon,
Fishing the Chesapeake Bay from the shoreline will be very difficult. You really need a buddy with a boat or your own boat.

i've had some fly rod success with schoolies during the spring run in the smaller rivers that dump into the potomac river-occoquan (sp) near woodbridge for example. also, you can rent a skiff out of fletcher's boat house in dc (not too far from georgetown) and fish that area where it changes from being a slower moving, wider river into a more fast moving, shallow river that could almost be described as rapids. if you don't mind driving too far, you could find some inlets over on the eastern shore (like ocean city and the likes). there are big bass in there at times. btw, now is the time to be fishing the potomac and it's tribs.
