I'm sure by now that everyone knows that New Hampshire's symbol, The Old Man of the Mountains fell off the side of Cannon Mountain in Franconia sometime this weekend.
I just heard from a northcountry friend that the noise of the Old Man's fall was so loud it frightened the Flume, which bolted out of its' wayside area, and is now terrifying the folks up in North Woodstock. This is the second time in 15 years that the Flume has gotten loose and a regional hunt is underway to recapture it.
Last time it ocurred, WBZ radio's all-night talkshow host,Larry Glick was credited with alerting the public in time for the monster to be lasood by a visiting cowboy from Texas who was touring the White Mountains.
