Was going to hit E. Galveston Bay Friday, but my guide called and cancelled. I guess it was the 20 kt. wind that made him change his mind. Will have to wait for a month or so.
Instead my stepson and I hit a managed lake north of Houston and caught 22 largemouth and 1 crappie. Want some fun, try fishing from an aluminum bass boat with a 20 kt wind blowing trying to cast a 9' x 8 wt. while running the troll motor and holdiing some kind of fishing pattern and still having some kind of presentation and being able to set the hook when the opportunity presents itself...... Thanks to the striper fisherman, I had tied a form of an eel pattern in black that accounted for my fish. Used a sinking tip line that had been given to me (personally I don't care much for them) and it seemed to be the ticket. The largest went about 4# and we "Boga'ed" 10 over 2½#s. Out of the 5 other boats fishing (a 150 acre managed lake) the top stringer was 5 fish to 4#s. 3 of these boats were "regulars". Call it beginners luck, or what ever, it was still a GREAT day out.
Planning on dragging the trailer and 'yak to Galveston for Memorial Day weekend. Will definately have some salt on the screen then. Tight Loops, AC

Sounds like a good alternative to fighting the chop in the bay. I ff'ed a lot of largemouth in tennessee before I moved down here. Las weekend I ended up working on the boat instead of fishing out of it. Getting ready for prime offshore season though if it ever settles down when I am off work.
Headed to Rockport this weekend to see if I can scare up some reds and specks.

before I will be able to make it to Rockport. My counterpart is on vacation next week, so I will have to spend my Memorial Day Weekend at Galveston Island SP. Not a bad place to be if the wind is blowing. I plan on giving my 'yak a good work out. Where are you going to spend your efforts this weekend. Heard there have been some decent catches on the lee side of Mud Island and in the Redfish Bay areas. The only thing is get there early. A buddy had most of his strikes before the sun cleard the horizon Monday morning. Good luck to you and....Tight Loops, AC
