leader for king markeral ?

Will be going to the Tampa area in couple of weeks to fly fish for king mackeral. Last time they either bit off the 20# fc leader or won't hit wire. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also what's a good fly to try. Will appreciate any help. Walt

I use a piece of 50lb fluorocarbon tippit about 8 inches long. Check it after a couple of fish. I have had good luck with a heavy chartreuse clouser patter.
