What are some of your favorite cuda flies? Does any one have a special patern?

I gave Orvis a pattern a couple of year's ago that they don't have in the catalog, but U can get it thru any shop that sell's Orvis product's. It's Dino's cuda fly. Good luck.

I will be re-locating to the sunshine state in a few week's.:)

Here's what I came up with, rather than use mono, I have steal cable in the body, and I like the marabou tail, it has great action. I used these and they were very productive in Hawaii. I will probably be heading down to FL in late August And I will try them on some lower 48 cudas. Tanks.

Up in your area the Flat Wing patterns are quite popular. They should make great cuda bugs with a slight modification. Tie them on Tiemco 911S or Mustad 34011 hooks in size range 1 to 1/0. I'd do some in fairly natural colors and a few in fluorescents. For years now I've fished a simple pattern with only one long feather laid horizontally over some polar bear hair that's about 4 to 6" long with a little flash.

I break my cuda fishing (and flies) into flats and wreck/structure. The flats flies are tied at the very rear of long shank hooks with 40 to 50lb fluorocarbon shock tippet --no wire! I have my anglers cast them on the same rods they use for bonefish. The fllies that I use on wrecks are quite different since they're being used on really big fish that have been teased with live baits 10 to 16" long. For those it's really big flies. Think Sedotti Slammers or monster Deceivers with wire shock tippets and big rods. Some of the cudas are in the six foot range and they are right at the boat. If you take too long fighting one it's going to get eaten..... Wrecks on the Gulf side of the 'Glades have fish on them that will also make a meal of a 15 to 20lb permit.
