Went for a walk at Castle Island with my wife and son around 7:00pm. Instructions were clear: NO FISHING. Still looked at the water and noticed a lot of big swirls on the south side of the "sugar bowl". Seagulls and terns were starting to circle the area but no diving. I would bet something was to happen. Also a guy had a 36" striper on the string at the elbow. He was using clam.

We now know one thing's for sure: Joseph's not married.

Crossing She Who Must be Obeyed is usually a very, very bad idea, Joseph, and for some, nothing short of suicide. :)

all them swirling bass were having a party with a worm hatch.
the seagulls would come down and just scoop up 7,to 10 inch
seaworm.this being my first hatch i cut about 6 inch,s off
my black shoelaces and impailed it on a fly that i tore apart to get down to a bare hook.this was the most frustrating fishing i,ve ever expierienced.does anyone have any flly recipes, and a few tips on retreive.i know someone with worm hatch
expierience would have clobbered them,it lasted over 3 hours
and then some!

these fish were all sizes with many (huge) swirls, definately fish
into the 30,s.i believe they were feeding on worms, some
call them clam worms, cinder, blood,i call them seaworms.
they call it a hatch but whats really happening is the worms are floating to the surface, and mating.
