As my title almost explains it for me. Some times when resources run low in terms of fly selection I like to know that other certain materials/flies can trigger strikes for stripers. I am beggining to tie saltwater patterns and am looking for some sure-fire colors/sizes. It is always reassuring for me when I know when the fish aren't hitting the sand-eels I can turn to another killer. If any of you have suggestions they will be greatly appreciated. I am also interested in buying or trying out any flies that someone might suggest.

thanks in advance for all of your help

When there is no obvious bait showing I always start out fishing a charttreuse and white clouser or 1/2&1/2 if I'm fishing daytime surf. Also I like an olive and white flatwing type fly if expecting something further up in the water column, or just in shallow flats areas.

Thanks. I'll have to try that out.
