Mike,
You sure seem pretty ****ed off. I will say your opinion of CCA and our positions is flawed. I will post the official list of CCA positins when I get it from our communincations officer.
You appear to not agree with many of CCA's positions or mechanisms. Please keep in mind we are a "conservation" group, not a kill em' all group. It took so damn long for the striped bass to reach it's levels it is at today. Why do we have to try to catch every last one this or next season?
If this species is over-fished to the levels it has been historically you and I and everyone else on this and many other boards won't have to worry about these issues any longer.

Mike,
You are obviously very into the current issues and I am impressed with your effort you put into the letter. As a member of CCA I don't recall seeing you at the state board meetings? This is the forum where CCA policy is developed. Instead of quiting why not attend meetings that you can help influence CCA policy? If you are a member than you have a right to be heard. You will hear many different ideas and opinions at these meetings. Instead of picking soundbites and attacking people on a public board have you contacted CCA directly? You put a lot of effort into your CCA bashing post, why not direct your effort into a positive channel???

Who have I attacked? Who have I bashed? Please answer this. If somehow you are uncomfortable with public statements made by your organization's leadership then "welcome to the club". As for the "public board", it was the CCA forum where I posted the letter. Is that not appropriate?
As for the "soundbites", I took every effort to include the full text of all works cited. I even included links to full audio broadcasts. Please read/listen to them. I only included the more salient quotes from CCA's officers here in order to keep the length of the letter down. I assure you Sir, if I included the full text of some of these quotes, it would only further make my case.
I am all about learning and getting things right. As I said, if I have somehow distorted CCA's position, then please show me where I am wrong.
To those of you who would lump me in with the "kill 'em all" crowd, make no mistake, I am all in favor of reasonable conservation measures. If I somehow manage to keep 4 striped bass fillets in the freezer this summer, then I'll be happy. If I can put 4 in my neighbor's freezer then I'll be even happier. I did not write this letter seeking to debate what CCA's postions shoud be, I only sought clarification of what they are just in case I have somehow misinterperted the very clear testimony given by the CCA-MA leadership.

Mike,
You really should talk to the people you disagree with directly. We have another state board meeting coming up in a couple weeks. I think it would be far more productive to discuss your concerns with the organization instead of debating them here. Please call the NE regional office at 800-639-3961 to speak to the executive director.
As for attacks and bashing, you did call Richard Armstrong a liar. To be perfectly frank, this really ****ed me off. I know Richard pretty well and have been working with him at CCA for 2 years. He is probably the most dedicated person in the CCA today.

As I said, I was sorry that there was no other way to put it. If you have a better choice of words to describe when someone knowingly decieves others then please let me know what they are.
I called a spade a spade here.

Mr. Flatts1, I red your full comments before the cross post was deleted, and you make many most excellent points, and most fully documented. I think you should post your own comments in their entirety here. I believe that is allowed...
Mr. CCA Ray man, open and free debate is a great thing you have in your country. Your comment reminds me of how we used to do things at home...
As usual, may Allah bless...

Personal attacks are not allowed, especially against someone who is not here to defend himself. Obviously, crossposting is not allowed.
But, as al_Sahaf reminds us, this is an open debate - but that is within reason. It is most certainly not free, and I have the bills to prove it.
Debate the issues...
