Hundreds of Huge Stripers just laughing at everything we threw at them on the outgoing tide. There is nothing like seeing a 40" fish in 24" of water. If I didn't love them so much I would have beat them with a paddle. Even if they were feeding the sand eels would have been tough competition. I have a 350 grain line, I need to go higher or put a super sinking tip on. We fished for 8 hours and only landed about five 20-26" fish. Any reason why they would just not feed for that long of a time?

sandeels seem to do it to them like nothing else does. a week ago, there was a huge school of sandeles and TONS of big bass in the canal, and it was nearly impossible to land a bass. I've seen it off of monomoy a million times. even a dead-on sandele imitation won't work. i'd advise you to use the biggest, ugliest, loudest flys you have next time you see that. get them to strike out of curiosity. that works better than anything else for me.

I must admit, when this kind of stuff happens, images of electroshocking and dynamite start to dance in my head. But I let them pass --123-3 .

See my post in the kayak section about the inlet.
What time of day did you go? Timing will make all the difference in the world. Another thing, if the fish know you are there they won't touch anything,--124-3 even fresh sand eels, usually the prefered striper candy.
I have been out there watching fish in the channels and drifting fresh sand eels right into them. Really makes you crazy when they just move out of the way and let the eel float by.

We were there from 6am to 3pm. It was truelly amazing. I have seen large schools of stripers before hitting nothing but not over this long a period of time.....
