Anyone have any good / bad experience with this rod ?
The reason I ask is that, for the 2nd time this season, I had it brake in my hands at the same spot in the rod.

Location of the break is where the tip and mid section attach to each other ( Ferrule ?? )
Ive got other rods (6,8,9 wts ) and have never broken a rod, but with this one it seems to be a common occurrance- one that Ive lost patience for !!
Are all 3pc rods more prone to breakage ??

appreciate any insights.

I blew up the same rod, not in the same place though. My break was at the butt/ mid section. A friend who is in the business tells me that Cortland/Diamondback is aware of the problem but won't fix it. I respect his opinion and don't really care if it is true or not. I love the rod. I think the Diamondback Backwater was the first rod anglers refered to as cannons. (The 2 piece is even MORE of a cannon). You send Cortland the pieces and a $10 check, and they make everything right.

Definately- I like the fast action of the rod and their return policy has been great & very quick to get repaired rod back.
Last time this broke I shipped the rod out on a monday and had the repair in my hands the friday morning of that same week. - Now that's service !!

Either way- I'd prefer to have a rod that was not soo "fussy".

Find a guy that has fished the Breakwater rod series who is unfamiliar with the return policy/warranty service-Now THAT would really impress me.

Regardless of the manufacturer everything wears out, everything breaks. Companies that stand behind their product is where it's at.

I've got an 8wt and a 10wt that I use on Pacific Salmon. The 8wt wt has broken on me twice; both times MY fault. Both times I experienced rapid turn-around on the unconditional lifetime warranty and no questions asked regarding my own stupidity. Love the rods; Love the Warranty; Love the service. You could pay double what these rods cost and not get the performance or service IMHO. Severely underrated.
