I am looking at getting a Maritime Skiff 2090. 1996 model, with 1996 Johnson 90 HP motor. Weekend warrior use, looks to be in good shape. Very clean. Includes GPS/plotter, fishfinder, larger center console with glass windshields, saltwater washdown. Asking price...$12,000. What do you think about the price?

You can take or leave what I have to say, I don't own a hardsided boat. I am responding to the post only because no one else is, (and there should be a lot of Maritime Skiff owners lurking here). Seems to me the asking price is reasonable but you can probably get the boat for less based on the fact that boat and motor are eight years old and the motor is the lowest horsepower recommended for that model. If you want a used boat the end of October is a great time to start shopping.

I check nagaguide.com and could not find a listing for maritime skiifs. the motor averages $2600.

There is no listing anywhere, as far as I know, for Maritime hull values.

It's tough to say whether that is a good deal or not. You really need to check the boat out in person. Unless the boat's in pristine condition, in my opinion(and I'm no expert), $12K seems a smidgen high for both a 96 hull and 2 stroke 90 Johnson.

Does the boat come with a trailer? If so, what make?

Make sure that you are completely satisfied with the boat and motor. Try not to be persuaded by the extras, you're primarily buying the boat. The extras are merely "extra" and easily obtained.

You might want to hire a surveyor too, once you've determined you want this boat.

Good Luck!

I've learned more about the boat since I first posed the question. The asking price was actually $13,900, but I said $12K because I knew that was all I was going to offer. The offer was accepted today.

I had some questions about the boat's deck layout so I called Maritime Skiff directly. Talked to Paul himself even, and he was extremely helpful. It turns out that in the '96 year they made 6-10 of what they called the 2092-D. They were essentially the 2090 model, but with a full deck layout, a large bulkhead storage bin, quarterpanel decks, and a built in to the deck fuel tank.

Anyway, it looks like I will soon be a new Maritime Skiff owner...my first boat!

Congrats GH! That sounds like an iteresting layout. Could you post pics of it when you get a chance?

Wow! Boat looks very clean. The cover is sweet! I imagine you are a spin guy, flyfisherman would want the traditional Maritime Skiff deck. Good for you for calling the company! Smart move.

I am a little spin, a little fly, and, perhaps more importantly, a family man. I have a 2 and a 5 year old and the higher gunnel looks nice and safe.

Judging from the pictures I was totally wrong, that is an extremely nice rig for the money. I've never seen those transom storage compartments on a Maritime before. I don't think that combing kit is used today either? Those are some pretty cool options.

Good luck with her.

Wow! That is an interesting model! Yea, I would say $12K is a pretty good deal there. I must have missed the ad for that one! :p

The boat looks in excellent condition and the cost seems a great deal. I have the same Boat ( 20D Model ) yet I havent seen the bow area and combing look like that. I wonder if they had custom work done to it. I noticed some small Stern Corner boxes on there as well. Looks kinda cool they way they have it set up.

Ok I just read down a bit... I guess they built them that way on a limited basis.

If you do decide on this boat you wont be sorry!! I have had mine 2yrs and absolutely love it!!! There are a few draw backs to the boat but all in all the Pluses far out way the Minuses.

Best of luck withe her. ( Once you have one I think you will always stick with Maritime. Heck I'm already thinking of a little sister for her.. maybe a 16... )

i'm looking for a new boat...don't mean to ask the same questions, but I just wanted to gather some opinions...

1999 1890
75 Honda - with around 1500 hours - i was told this is low ?
32 inch console.
built in gas tank.
canvas - whatever that means ....
shorelander trailer.
fish finder, not sure what make/model.
livewell with external pump.
asking $15,500.

yay ?
nay ?

The built-in(in deck?) gas tank and the livewell sound good to me.

Canvas... maybe a bow dodger or console cover???

I guess 1500 is ok for a four year old motor. Some will tell you that is no worry for a Honda four stroke.

You should take a look at it.

Has the boat been trailered or kept in the water?

I think the price is a bit steep actually. Think you can find one a little less expensive...

Actually I would really have to see what shape its in before I could make that assumption.

As far as hours on the engine 1500 is not terrible but it definately has been used and used alot. My Honda is going on its 2nd year and has only about 100hrs but then again I dont fish it every day or every week for that matter but I do run it fairly regularly.

By the hours I would presume it was kept in the water.
