View Full Version : Waders
I'm looking to invest in a new pair, and would appreciate any advice. My current waders are the old-fashioned rubber kind -- not particularly comfortable, but they've done the job. Still, it's time to upgrade.
I use waders mostly in the spring and fall, and I don't tend to get cold very easily. Any advice on material? How about boot versus stocking foot?
Thanks in advance.

I have a pair of Patagonia SST breathable waders. They retail fpr 300+ but I got mine for 159 at Sierra Trading Post.I realy never gets cold down here but if so You can always wear insulated under garments.Mine are stocking foot. I like that better because I can pick the boots I want to wear acording to what I will be doing.I cant imagine a better pair of waders.I mainly got mine because certain time of the year the jelly fish get real bad here.Getting lit up by one of them is not something you want to do every day.

Buy Patagonia, you will not regret it. I've had the others (Simms, Orvis, Hodgman, Etc.). I only wish I had bought the "Patagucci's" sooner.

There was a thread on waders in the New England section last week or so that is worth reading.

If there is an Orvis dealer/store nearby you should give them a call. The Orvis dealer/stores in the Boston and Cape area have been having a sale on waders and other selected Fly fishing equipment. I picked some waders up at 30% off.

Sierra trading post has a limited selection of sizes in the Patagonia. 330 dollar waders for less than 200.
