View Full Version : Sage RPLXi
Is there any truth to the rumor that Sage is discontinuing its RPLXi line? If so, in anticipation of some close-out sales that may bring their prices into a more reachable range for me, I'd appreciate hearing some opinions of these rods. Thanks.

Hey JGH,
That rumor appears to be true regarding the RPLXi being discontinued by sage. I have an 8 & 9wt. RPLXi they are great fish fighting tools, they are alittle slower than I like as a casting rod, I much prefer the XP model, I have an XP 10wt. that I love, which is a casting cannon! very fast action. Having said that, The rplxi is a great all around saltwater fly rod, and you cannot beat the sage rod company for customer service. If you can get one at a reduced price you would not be sorry.

I just ordered another 1090 blank after I heard they are going to be discontinued. Probably sometime between september and december I was told. Got the 20% discount even though I ordered it this past teusday!!:D It was $270 for a blank b/f the discount. I absolutely love casting this rod; from a floating line to a 400 grain it can handle it all. It has no problem handling any bass, blue or albie you'll hook in the northeast. I whole heartedly recommend you cast one b/f you buy one though, I've met a few people who don't care for this rod, which surprises me since most other companies' fast actions are faster than the rplxi. Sage will warranty the rod even though its' discontinued, I break a few rplx's every year and they are great about it.

The new rod line is called the Xi2.
Early reports of this rod are very encouraging.
Super strong and super fast. And cheaper than the RPLXi's.
Can't wait to order a 10 weight blank.
