Hello there. I am a relative newcomer to fly tying (a couple of years) but I am trying to tye a fly that will resemble a Yozuri pin minnow in silver with a red head and silver body that is deadly on mackeral here, also good gar fish. I was thinking about a single up front then a treble at the rear connected with dacron or something, with a long zonker strip tied on top. Anyone out there have any better ideas.
thx and rgds,
Mike

I never tied a treble stinger but I do put stingers on some of my large bunker flies.
I use 50# mono to attach the second hook tied with dbl loops.
I swam one fly to make sure it was properly balanced and it swam perfectly.
Maybe you can figure out something similar with treble hooks
Good Luck

Have you considered trying a tube fly with a treble hook?

I'm not 100% sure but this works for me for salmon trolling patterns....

Tie the treble (or single) to heavy mono or wire. Snell works good on single.

Lay mono parallelle to hook. Leave about 6" sticking forward of hook eye. Wrap thoroughly, coat with glue of your choice.

Fold Mono over, re-wrap and coat. (Sometimes this is enough)

Fold mono back one more time, re-wrap and coat.

Tie the rest of the fly.

I have never tied a tube fly but I do need two hooks as we get a lot of missed hits. What attachment do I need on my vice to tie tubes ?
thx and rgds
