How often do you apply "Glide" or a similar product to your lines. Do you have to buff Glide off after it dries ?

Thanks,

I never had any trouble with leaving it on,line still cast like a dream,or good as new ! I apply it on my line after I rinse it off after fishing, wipe excess water off, apply Glide.. all set for the day on the water:D

Can you give me some information on Glide and where I can purchase. I am always looking for a good line treatment.

I'm pretty sure you would be able to buy Glide at any decently stocked fly shop, but there are a lot of places online too. Just do a search for 'glide line dressing'. I've also picked up a silicone fly line dressing from Backcountry Laboratories. You spray this on while the line is all wound up on the reel. It works its way down to most of the line and makes it slicker than anything i've tried. Kinda messy, but I've been told that it won't harm the reel or drag in any way. Anyone else tried this stuff?

I like the backcountry stuff. I don't spray it on the reel though - too messy. I put the line in my basking and spray it there. Works fine, favorite of all the stuff that is out there. I try to do my lines every few trip. It makes a big difference. I can usually tell when I haven't been doing it - the lines tend to tangle more than usual.

Other than " Glide" , I have been using " CLIMAX Slick + ". This is pretty good, had excellent results,I bought this when I could not find Glide at my usual store, took a chance, been using it ever since!

I used to buy every product I could for line dressing. But then I realize that some fresh and clean water a towel and a bit of shampoo were allright for cleaning up.
After this I will use those waxy discs included in every cortland line and voila. More than enough.
None of my lines have ever cracked.
