Kayak registration for tuna permit info

This is some information I got that I thought I might share.

I emailed the following question to David Barber, Registration Bureau Chief, Email Questions To: Allen.Millner@State.ma.us

In order to obtain a tuna permit from the NMFS I need to have a MA registration number for my kayak. Could you please supply me the information needed in order to register my kayak?

The reply:
Good Morning:

You will need a bill of sale, paid sales tax receipt, and a pencil tracing of the hull ID number.

Sounds easy but I will start the process now for next years permit.

Thats what they tol me last year when I tried but they forgot to mention, you will also need the title for the boat with the bill of sale that has the hull id # on both. It took 2 months of fighting with the State office and Perception to get that for me.
