Hit Sandy Point on PI this W/E. Not much happening for me. Same old story shoulda been here earlier. Saturday was a bit tough. Waded wet but was hammered every so often with a big swell. Nothing to show for it. Although there was somebody in a boat working Emerson Rocks awful hard and for a long period of time. Sunday got a twinkie in the rock garden. Surf not quite as bad.
Monday hit the caost in the Yak but got a late start. 8:00 am. As I was pulling into my launch point another guy was just leaving. Again with the shoulda been here at 1st light. The place was on fire. He wound up with 2 40"+ fish with a lot of smaller ones. He did encourage me with thay were still rolling when he left. I quickly made my preparations and headed out on the smooth as glass water. Just outside of the cove in the rocks I could see fish working. Threw out a Puglisi style bunker pattern. Nada, fish busting around it but nothing. Tried several more times and then switched to a popper with the same results. Finally put on the crease fly and whammo. Nice fat 20" fish that fought like he was bigger.
The school went down but quickly surfaced further down the rocks. I paddled over and picked up a few more in the 20" range. before they went down again. It didn't look like they were coming back up so I paddled towards Coolidge point trailing my fly and got a good hit. The fish made several good runs into my backing but I finally subdued the creature. A nice 34" fish. The way it fought you would a thought it was bigger.
Paddled around the point up in front of Magnolia Harbor. Lots a birds, lotsa bait but no breaking fish. Stayed there for a bit but nothing happening so paddled back down to the area between Singing Beach and Black Beach. Got into them again.
There were two guys fishing the rocks there and they saw a ton of fish cruising with a lot of big fish. I could see them as they cruised underneath me. I didn't seem to bother them unless they they were within a few feet of me. Then they would just speed up a bit.
Finally called it quits around 1 pm. Took a tour of the rocks by Normans Woe and there pods of fish working up and down the coast.

It heating up so get out there!

JohnR,
Sorry. Should have introduced myself. Believe me he got a ration of s*** when I saw him. Obviously not a fisherman. We'll see you out there. Looks like I'll be hitting it over the we as well as the latter half of next week. Taking some time off from work.

Tight Lines.
