After the first season (give or take a few more trips) of dragging my pungo around NE the hull is pretty scratched up. How do the bottoms of your yaks look and how much scratching and nicking can these things take? Also, is there a treatment/cure?

As a mechanical engineer I can tell you the rotomolded structure is very strong and rigid. My P140 is loaded with scratches and a few gouges. Don't worry about it. No repair either.

Mine is all cut up. Dragging it over rocks, rebar, bricks, glass, you name it with lots of heavy gear, if not me in it hasn't helped. THere are some deep gouges and I still have no fear of it ever going through or leaking. As far as I know there isn't much you can do with it. You can smooth the hull with a hot iron but its not worth the trouble. Fortunately with dragging, most of the scrapes and gouges are over the strongest part of the hull, at the chines. Here the plastic is much thiscker than in other areas and will take more abuse.

Thanks - that's reassuring to know I'm not the only tail-dragger out there although I am more conscious of keeping it off the rocks and pavement when putting in and out.

Don't feel bad, Shaun was there the night I went full bore into a concrete wall. Thought it was the boat ramp in the dark.
