Hit Whites Beach around 6 am Saturday. A little surf but not too bad. In the rush to get out misjudged the waves and took two that filled me half way. Luckily I was able jump out and dump the water before trying again. When I did get out I could hear fish popping on the surface. Paddled in the direction of the sound and came up on them just breaking the surface. They were porpoising or coming straight up and sticking their noses out of the water. Crease fly was the ticket and landed quite a few schoolies in the mid twenties. There were a few blues mixed in as after 3 hard hits with no hookups I brought in a very mangled fly. I stayed until 9 and they were still working as I left.
Sunday I arrived at the same time but conditions weren't the same. Left the boat on the car and waited and watched. Nothing happening. Drove into Magnolia and around Shore drive. I parked on a side street and walked down to the rocks. First thing I heard was the birds going crazy inside of the harbor. Ran back to the car and grabbed the gear. Crawled slipped and jumped my way down to the water and fish had moved on. Waited for a bit and they surfaced a hundred yards up. Made my way to them and quickly hooked up. Again mid twenties fish. Stayed on the rocks getting pounded by the waves but catching fish. Finally gave it up as the tide was coming in.
Playing hooky towards the end of the week and will try again.

Mike,

The rocks are a great spot this time of year. Early AM is the trick.
