Just finished tying a batch of sili skin peanut bunker for the schooly bluefin. I used a rattle with 3 small metal beads in each tube.
Anyone have any feedback on the use of rattles in a fly??
I love rattles in flies. It seems to double the amount oif trout I catch. but theres on thing I don't like the glass rattles seem to break after a few fish. To attach my rattles I stick them inside mylar tubing and then tie and superglue it down.

the Rattle Rouser. If you are not familiar with this fly, it is a bend back type fly with the rattle covered with mylar on the keel side. Works great on specks, redfish and flounder. If you need to get it down in a guick, add lead eyes or tie in a lead wiire strip along the shank of the hook. Silver body with white and blue topping, copper body with orange and root beer topping and pearl body with white and chart. topping. Great all around fly. Tight Loops. AC

I have used them for stripers and blues and they work. Then again I only use them when the fish are blitzing so it's entirely likely they would hit any other fly just as well under these conditions.
Rattles are a staple for FW Bass guys. Don't see why they wouldn't work on stripes just as well.

the only time you don't want rattles is when you are fishing an already heavily fished spot. I hit a school of redfish last fall in an area that gets it all day, every day and the first couple of strips sent them on their way, and fast too.

MMMM I DON'T KNOW WHATS UP WITH THE RATTLES, I BOUGHT THEM TO TIE RATTLING ZONKERS FOR A LAKE WITH MURKY WATER BUT NEVER HAD A STRIKE i'VE ONLY TRIED THEM WITH TROUT. BUT I'LL TRIE THEM FOR PEACOCK BASS THOSE HAVE TO BE SOME KILLERS. A RATTLER PER STRIKE.

I've had flounder smash them with no problem. I imagine a pavon will really make short work of them. Good luck.
