hi i am fairly new to saltwater fly tying can anyone help me with fly patterns that will work ??
What connection are you on? I could send you a cd over the internet that helped me out alot. but make sure you get a video or take a class, it will teach you more then trying to learn by mistake.

Try saltwaterflytying.com,
Give me an e-mail with your address, I'll mail a cd I got so I can pass it on to you. msiler gave it to me about 3 months ago and would be glad if someone else could learn from it.

One book that would help with actual tying steps is the new book ..from last year... by David Klausmeyer called ."Tying Contemportary Saltwaterflies".
You can get by quite well on Clouser Minnows
http://www.flyline.com/1flys/cl_mnnw.htm
in chartreuse over white
or Lefty's Deceivers
http://www.westfly.com/patterns/wet/leftysdeceiver.shtml
or
http://www.stripersurf.com/leftys.html
or almost anything you want to google for either.
All of them will work for starters.
If it don't have chartreuse, it ain't no use (paraphrase from Lefty Kreh).
