Not a pleasant report

These are the kind of reports that should not be needed.
While at a nephew's wedding this weekend my other nephew was called back to Flordia to receive the horrific news that his friend was drown in a kayak accident.
Seems this, 20 something, young man was a first time kayaker. He had just finished his first outing in a pleasant flowing river in Florda. On his own he decided to venture out into the ocean alone. Withnesses say he capsized in the waves and could not reach the kayak. The irony of it all is, his life vest was straped to the kayak!
If anyone has friends out there please tell them use the buddy system and always were the life vest!!!!

And senseless. When onboard my boat solo I wear a life jacket by the trade name SOSpenders .........light, compact, not cumbersome, and inflatable by yanking a rip-cord which activates the CO2 cartridge inflation device. (auto-inflatable models have been re-called because they are not reliable).

My latest report from my nephew in Flordia. His friend was not as careless as suspected but, fell victim to a shark attack. Apparently, there were sharks in the area and evidence on the kayak of the attack.
Still very tragic.:(

Yikes.
Those shark stories still send a chill up my spine.

I have seen too many discovery channel shark shows.
Well, the odds are pretty slim.....right???

... but I still get nervous occasionally when I'm offshore in the yak, especially at dusk. And bobbing around in a little 13' kayak at night REALLY gets the imagination going.

i saw a guy at scortons creek tip over and get sucked out to see his kayak filled with water and he could do nothing but go with the flow it took almost 30 min for a rescue boat to get there if didnt hav a life vest and got away from his boat hi may of not made it back . wear a vest
