you can cut to the desired length for you banger,

Next time you are on the beach... don't walk past old lobster bouys... collect them... then get some copper tubing of various diameters.... a mini blow torch... heat the pipe and start slidding it though the bouys.... Then blow the foam out like a blow gun...Cut them to the desired size and you will have a lifetime of popper material for very little investment.

Another source of free material on beach, flip flop sandals. Cut the foam with tubing.

BTW, I like Striblue's idea for cutting lobster bouy foam. I always used sharpened copper tubing twisted thru the foam, but surface always rough. Striblue's looks good.

Simple and effective popper.

Take one of those elongated foam slip bobbers. I like the 3" ones. You can buy a bag of thee for like 50 cents. Sometimes they are half white, half orange - sometimes all orange. Cut in half, ACROSS the middle. You now have two "poppers". Slip on leader/tippet and tie on ony old generic deceiver. Ta-da.

Flat side forward for popper, tapered side forward for slider. You can vary the size of the "head" by trimming the "face" of the popper shorter and shorter. Or even cut the float in thirds - produces two tapered "heads" and one barrel shaped one.
