25 news reported between innings. They found the kayaks but not the paddlers. It looked like a yellow and green sinks, maybe pungos. Prayers go out to the families.

The yellow one was an old town loon 138...I'm about 95% sure from the split second look I got at it...I have the same kayak.
Very sad two young women 19 & 20 years old I believe...

I am hoping that this is not the case but the circumstances would suggest it. Two kayakers head out in the fog and all that is found are the two yaks, upside down and tied together. My bet is that they capsized, couldn't execute a self rescue and are lost to exposure. Have yet to hear either way but I wouldn't be surprised if life jackets were not being used either.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Everyone should make a point of going out with a partner and rolling their yak at least once a year. If you can not get back in with out assistance, you should really reconsider the types of waters you kayak in. Also, just because you might have an SOT and think that you are safe because it is "unsinkable", you can still die of exposure.

The kayakers were not found because they sank, so they obviously were not wearing flotation devices.
I have seen a lot of photos of anglers in their Yaks posing with their prize catch of the day................most all of them not wearing life jackets.
I am an avid Reel-Timer and I am hearing Yakkers describe fog, 2-4 foot waves, rips, night-fishing, cold water..........all conducive to tragedy.
If I were doing this sort of fishing in your area I would certainly be wearing my favorite life jacket, brand name SOSpenders ,......small, lightweight, not cumbersome, and inflatable by yanking a ripcord which activates the CO2 cartridge inflation device. Additionally, I would certainly outfit my Yak with a satellite beacon system that can be instantly activated sending a message to a satellite which transmits your name, etc. and GPS coords. to a monitored earth station. This way the appeal for help, the MAY-DAY, is instantaneous and your location pinpointed for the Coast Guard. It is about the size of a quart of beer and offers your best shot at survival.
I am an Emergency Physician, and I see a lot of preventable tragedies. This gives me a pure 20-20 vision hind-sight as to how tragedies could have been easily prevented.
I hope and pray this message is considered..........you must think of your families.
