Scare the hell out of me! I don't think so!

I feel sorry that two inexperienced paddlers made a mistake.
When dealing with things on the water , weather, waves, currents, storms etc. one should respect the elements. The lesson here should be learning and gather experience on every outing. Take a compass or GPS on every trip, etc.

The fact they were in kayaks does not place them in the experienced catagory. I would bet the ladies had less than 10 hours experience and that the kayaks they were in were not suitable for the Atlantic Ocean on a good day.

My condolences to their families!

It's really sad. The local papers wrote that one of the lost ladies was only the latest death in her family. One or two other siblings lost before her.
