Hit Rockport with Ray this weekend for sunrise. Saw soemthing new today. Usually I think of these fish as bait, but seeing North shore albies school up tight to the rocks pushing massive clouds of peanut bunker flying onto the rocks was a neat scene to watch. Movies to come.... We sat in 10 to 30ft of water and watched green backs race through the bait school. Got a bunch on the fly, even with a deciever on a 6/0 hook. Green backs flying everywhere. Then bass came in, HUGE numbers of bass under the boat with nothing on their minds but peanuts. I livelined a mack on the fly rod for about 10 minutes, got bored and switched back to casting when fish started showing on top. Could not get bass to take anything. GOt a few curious fish follow to the boat (you could see them crystal clear under the water) but no takes. Also found an area where it was nothing but Pollack (that also had peanuts crowded up) on the fly almost every cast. We actually got skunked on bass, classic case of too much live bait. Almost had a bait fish slam, actually did, if you count the peanuts I caught with my hand. Ray has an inetresting story....another good movie to follow. Yes I know thats not an albie...it was a joke.
