who caught who. Somewhere there is a gull bragging about the yakker he released, and trying to find a place to buy a fiberglass mount.
The audio would have made the Devil blush!!!!

Fishing for gulls!
You're a genius....I never thought of that.
A terrific species for the flyrod.
A year round quarry as well.
I'll never be skunked again.
A little boney, but great for a chowder.
Great idea! :D

I'm glad that's never happened to me while on the kayak.
Ruge13 what are you using to store your digital camera? I'm looking for something to store mine in.
Ray your a little slow on the head grab unless Shaun was taking slo mo video .
Myself I have had 3 birds on .All 3 landed and released. Not fun and them beaks look pretty sharp.
Next time dunk it with the paddle it should take some of the fight out of it :D

I don't know about that one Joe. I figure all I would end with is a very wet, really ****ed off Gull. By the time Shaun got over to me this had been going on for a couple minutes. Everytime I got a good hold on him, he got out!!!!

Great video.
I know with a lot of birds they put a towel or cover over their head to calm them down. Might work with seagulls.
I always amazed more seagulls aren't caught. I've only caught one in my life and never had someone I'm fishing with catch one.

Sam,
Are we sure Ray wasn't just plucking the bird for its feathers?

Actually, he was plucking for tying materials....
I keep my camera in a dry bag with the rest of my gear. Thats it.

nice catch ray!
i was once fishing at shoals and had 2 gulls on one rapalla. it was easier to catch the birds than the fish.

Ray,
I consulted with "Joe the Deer Killer"and he would like you to explore the possibilities of developing a marine version of his famous NJ sport. He said that snagging wood chucks along the Palasadies Parkway with a long handled net is growing by leaps and bounds and he has already sold 120 franchchises in Jersey. His expanding market now includes the Garden State Parkway
He is willing to trade wood chuck recipes for sea gull recipes to show his good faith. His "Chuck ala Bolunanese" is ledgendary in Jersey City!
He asked me to be the intemediary between the two families!
I can do that, but you must unnerstand that even tho we're all friends here , business is business and I must take my usual percentage for any transactions that might occur.
Should you wish to pursue this, place a dead fish on Sam Riley's doorstep as a show of good faith! Sam will appreciate the charity and let me know thru the usual channels that we have a deal. Joe feels we need at least two people between him and you to confuse the fish cops!
Finally, Joe says that Albies like sea gulls and will hit one below the surface if you put its feet in a little concrete! And he never saw another sea gull try to save the ones they use for albie bait at Sandy Hook! They squawk a lot, but never work up the courage to attack.
Yours etc.,
Barkin Bob
Did you ever notice that New Jersey is the only state that everyone knows your talking about it, even when you drop the New.
Try that with New Mexico, New Hampshire, New York! That Jersery is a powerful place!

Sea Gulls????
Come one now Bob..... don't tell me that you and Joe the Deer Killer are getting soft in your old age. Friday, there was a large flock of Gannets diving into the outflow from Nauset Inlet. Imagine trying to snag one of those monsters in the middle of a depth charge dive.--125-3
