Hit the same spot first light. So did every bird on the North shore of MA. Bass were pretty much non existant, at least that I could find. I could not get through the macs on top. They would slap at a fly being gragged just past the bow when I paddled into position for a dirft. Caught one today that was about 9", tough to do on a 6/0 hook. I thought the bigger hook size would make them miss the hookups and I could get deeper to bass but no. Wind made it tough to fish where I wanted to and I had to stay in the lee. I could at least make an effort to get below the macs there. In the wind it was too much to control a line, and my paddle, and stay upright in heavy chop to be able to get below them, they took everything. Started to experiment. With a crease fly they took it on top like a bluefish, 2 or 3 at a time. 3" popper and they banged at it. 9" herrign pattern and they beat it up. Its too bad they are so small because they would be great if they were larger. I love the colors on them though, even though they are bait fish. Somthing new today, I was getting them in full dark, around 6am. They came up into 3-6 feet of water. Within feet of the rocks. If you have kids, take them up to the north sore this weekend. If you are new to finding them, birds are higher and scattered over massive schools of them. They look like birds that are trying to find fish but can't really get a bead on them to swoop in. Like Riptide said with the spanish, 8 birds an they are there. Regular macs and 800 birds or more and they are there...
