All:
I've been toying with the idea of tying a few flies to match my go to bomber plugs. I was thinking a variation of a Poplip but I'd like to get some insights from the group

Thanks,

I am looking into making some of the classic plugs out of Balsa wood for the fly rod. It looks labor intensive from the point of view of carving them to shape... but it is an experiment I will be working on as the winter comes.

How about crease flies tied on long shank 4/0 hooks?

At which point does fly fishing stop being flyfishing? If I get a 14 weight set up and start chucking eels am I still flyfishing?

Hey good to hear from you...I never did get anything that day after you left....but I did pretty well the other night farther south....Crease fly hmmm that would be a pretty big one but who knows it may work.

Hello StriperSniper,
I did good about a week ago at the bogs. Lefty Kreh's Saltwater Fly Pattern book has 2 patterns on page 181 he's also showing one on the cover. Soon as i take a decent picture i'lll show you what i think is a pretty large crease fly on a 4/0 that i've ben casting pretty good with a 10 wt.

Not sure if it's big enough for you but this is 5 1/2 inches with tail
