I will be at Cayo Largo in January an i am planing to spend my time with my fly rod there.I know that there is an outfither there but it is to expensive for me. I would like to know if i can go by selfguiding an if i can do good fishing that way on the flat of Cayo largo. Thank-you for any information.
This impossible................
You are able to fish unguided from the beaches, that's all.
You need for sure a guide and a boat to get to the flats.
Please remember this is a national park so you need a license
to fish there.

Hi there,
I am also planning to go to C.L. but it will be the 2nd half of March (most likely...).
I have a friend who fished the shores there twice and caught some really nice fish doing this on his own (unguided).
I am not shure about the licence situation but I have a feeling that you do not need one there?!
Let me know, how it went.
Best and T.L.
Andy
Cayo Largo lies in the Archipielago de los Cannarreos, this is a national park, and you need sofar I know a license to fish there. Casa Batida is the only ( Italian ) fishing organisation at Cayo Largo. They sell licenses to their clients on top of the standard package price.
