This is the scouting mission..............meeting some people over there that live there already.....
I'm just asking for any more information so I can prepare some tackle for some shoreline fishing...........
Thanks, Howie

Howie- the shore fish of choice is the ulua- more commonly known as the giant trevally. The locals use big 11+' surf sticks and soak bait for these fish that go up over 100#. I'm not aware of a huge shore-based fly fishing interest on Maui, but if you have any interest in billfish on a fly, December is a great month for smaller striped marlin (50-80 lbs) and spearfish (30-50 lbs) and some of the Lahina boats are starting to get better at fly fishing for them. E-mail me directly if you would like some specific contacts for offshore action.

I have gone out with these guys on the flats on Oahu. Great bonefish guides. They were very helpful and knowledgeable on a variety of topics. They may have some info. on Maui for you.

That's bonefish in Hawaiian. No bones in November '02. No locals would guide or refer us to guide. Transplanted mainlanders said Bones could be seen near the Military Base which is available by small plane ride and permission from US Base to enter. A US citizen should have no problem.....
