Interesting article Ray. The highlight for me was
"Mr. Kohn said that the turbines are also easy to dismantle."

Who wants in once the Nantucket Sound project is finished?

I have a wide selection of adjustable wrenches and hammers ready to go. All you need to do is throw off the dynaic balance and those suckers come down on their own.

For the record this is not a "how-to" post!!!

Ray- I would be in favor of the wind farm if it didn't disturb the environment anymore than the Danish "farm" does. We need the energy and I do not want anymore fossil-fuel power plants in the area- look what Brayton Point has done to Mount Hope Bay and the surrounding area.
As for the area being restricted(post 911) rules could be enacted that would protect the turbines and those who want to use the area. The turbines would also be less of a problem than the oil rigs down south and the fishing around the latter is great. Just think of the turbines as being an artificial reef that gives us something besides a good fishing area.
Just my $.02

I agree with Rel, that the wind farm will create habitate for invertibrates which in turn will attract small fishes and that will attract larger preditory fishes., and that will be an unintentional bonus for us anglers. The intentional benifit will be that we will lessen our dependance on fossil fuels as an energy source. Europe is leading the way with wind farms and we should follow suit and let the arabs go back to riding camels.
Just my .02 worth. Cheers, jaybo :-%
