a group of us are thinking about a Bahamas bonefishing trip in February. We've heard mixed reviews of the fishing at that time of year. Any thoughts re: the fishing/destinations/guides would be greatly appreciated

Thanks, guys.

Bh,

The only major glitch you might run into on a February Bahamas trip would be a cold front blowing in off the States.:(
It happened to us while on Abaco (Lubbers Cay) a few years back, and it (cold front) brought all my fishing activities to a screaming halt!
Cold fronts are a very real possibility in the Bahamas from February through March. If you DON'T hit one, you'll likely have a great trip. If you DO, enjoy the rum and the Kalik.:-%

Thanks, Bob. Drinking rum for a few days doesn't sound so bad either....;) ;)

As BobG said, cold fronts are not uncommon in the Bahamas in Febrary and March but if the weather is good, both months offer good fishing for big bones on the move in the northern Bahamas. To increase the odds, take a saltwater-proof thermometer with you. Then if you get a quick front blowing through that drops the water temp only a few degrees you can seek out the warmer flats (shallower, sheltered, dark bottoms, mangrove vs ocean side. etc.) lookimg for water temps above 68 degrees. If a prolonged front drops the water below the 62 to 65 range, it's time for other activities.
