I recently tied some clousers up in a black over chartreuse and gave them to a friend to try out. First trip out he had a nice winter U.K. Bass. I have not seen the fly tied in these colours before, although I'm sure someone, somewhere must have tried them.
Has anyone else tried this colour varient?
Any feed-back would be great.

Gonzo.. I have to say... atleast from me... I have never seen Cape clousers with black. I have seen some that are all black with rattlers for night fishing which were done in a sort of Half and Half with hackle feathers... but never the basic clouser. Dark blue or pale blue is a color I have seen

I've tied this two colors more on bendback clousers, peacocks seem to like it, also tried black over orange and black over yellow.

i use black over olive and black over yellow, bar jacks love them with short buck tail and no flash at all, in shallow water i use the aluminun eyes so they dont go deep.

This is great guys... Thanks for taking time to answer.

I think it is only our imagination that prevents using even more unusual colour combinations!

Hey Gonzo - just out of curiosity, what's a U.K. bass?

It is a bass from the United Kingdom. Hey Gonzo, we see a great advertisement in our fly fishing magazines from House of Hardy. If time spent examing an ad translates directly to sales, Hardy is going to have a great year!

Jeez, Quick - I know what the UK is - but what kind of bass do they have there? Unfortunately, the the only fish I've encountered over there came wrapped in newspaper with chips and vinegar.

Guys...
A European Bass is very similar to your Striped Bass only smaller and no stripes! A good size fish is 8 lb. While one around the 12lb mark is a fish of a lifetime!
I have attached a photo to give you an idea.

btw: This one was a tad over 9lb and took and orange/white clouser minnow.

Thanks for the lowdown, Gonzo. Sounds like they'd be a lot of fun on an eight-weight.
