I'm going to be in St. John 2 days after christmas until the 5th of Jan. I am very familiar with the island, travel there 2 or 3 times a year. I am always looking for another person to fish the fly in the flats there. Anyone who is going to be down there at the same time and wants to get together, let me know.

An recent reports... anyone?

I reported info on the new england forum on my trip to st john. just got back.. I was in coral bay for a while, and saw all kinds of action, but they were tough to catch.. bonita i think. i went south of st john for yellowfin with world class charters, but no fly action, just live bait, we did well, just me and the captain. a bit much for $450 with tip, half day. We were in a bay right on the other side of westin and there were small, (50lb) maybe tarpon slurping bait. Water was kinda dirty. Have not heard bone action, but i would imagine that coral bay must have some. its a hike from cruz bay, but i bet worth it. that is one of the most beautiful spots i have seen there. tuna are about 8 miles south. go to the edge. watch for sharks..
keep your feet in the boat.

Post a report when you get back. I had great success (on everything except bones) a couple of years ago; especially on big snook at both ends of the beach at the Westin. Have a couple :-% at Duffy's for me.

What were you using for the snook, i am staying in a Villa to the right of the Westin if your looking out on the water. I have stayed on the island before and do ok with some small bonefish at Leicster Bay its a pretty good flat, also at the very edge of the flat where the deep water begins i saw a 14 ft shark beach itself it did some thrashing and next small wave came in lifted it up just enough to get off. But it is a great island some of the best beaches in the world. "ill have a few at Duffys for ya...and a few at Skinny legs for ya... :-%
thanks for the info about the snook in advance...Bob H
