OK...
Except for the annual midnight winter solstice paddle on the Concord River with my daughter, I have to admit the season's over.
I have two Pungos (superlights). I don't have a garage and the cellar is full of clipped bucktail stumps, broken reel parts and leaky waders. Anyone have any suggestions for outdoor winter storage methods? I'm concerned that I may put a strange set in the plastic by storing it the wrong way. How about UV? Is some Armorall enough or should they get a nice fabric "kayak-cozy"?
Do inverted kayaks make good racoon nests?
All suggestions, however facitious, welcome.

Got a fence? If so why not rig up a sling for each yak and hang them on their sides? There is an anti UV balm that I rub on my yak from time to time (forget the name) but I'd imagine that a tarp would keep the UV off and water out during the winter.
As for hanging it up, I've been out of my yak for a month now but plan on getting out when the weather is decent. Winter is a great time of year to go exploring for new put-ins and fishing destinations.
Tight lines and happy year round paddling :)
WS has an owners manual on their website. ws owners manual (http://www.wildernesssystems.com/resources/owners/owners_manual/ownersmanual.html)
In a nutshell, stored on end is best, on it's side next best and out of sunlight whenever possible. 303 is a good UV protectorant but make ssurfaces slippery. I'd try to cover them with a tarp anyway, keep the filth off and make those mid winter paddles a little more inviting.
I don't know abt 'coons but squirrels like to store thier nuts in mine. May be taking a couple for a cruise some day if I don't remember to close up the hatches after they air out.

They must have caught my scent :D
If you live in downtown Boston you can rent it out for about $900-1100 a month....no utilities!!!!

Well, I have a new problem now - I have to find them! There seems to be a slight lump in the snow about where I remember last seeing my pungos.
This was the designated weekend for the final leaf raking, yard tidying and yak storing - guess that plan's kinda shot!
I have the same problem. I store my yak one it's side against the house partially under a porch. I just hope my cockpit cover stayed in place!!
