This past Fall I prepared for the season ahead......
OB lower unit, changed lube, clean/spray power head, carb. etc ... never filled the gas can for the Snow blower until late Friday.
Washed/stored all the PFD's & Cushions --- The snow blower was still in the shed from spring storage, never gased or started until Sat. AM.
Anchor, rode, cleaned, coiled, stored...... pull start cord breaks
first pull on the blower Sat. AM. -- Not Kidding
Cleaned off all reels, tackle, organized the T box ..... all my shovels had broken handles from the kids playing with them during the summer.
Boat Trailer, cleaned, sprayed with WD40, bearings replaced....
never put weight or picke-up sand for the PU truck, stuck in
neighbors driveway while I cleared mine.
All said and done, I think I'm all set for the upcoming fishing season.
That was great. You can't say you weren't prepared. It was just for the wrong thing!!!

Ya, now with the storm over ... I can work on my fly tying again. I'm just going to forget that I took the cord off the pole-saw until the spring when I go out to trim limbs. Ha, Ha

I was given grief for running the snow blower around my boat before I did the driveway.........

Fired up my snow-blower tonight while I was doing my annual "garage cleaning/organizing". Even though I haven't needed it yet this year, its nice to know it starts. Started on the 3rd pull!!! I even found my boat piled under all sorts of crap...hasn't seen the water since I last fished for salmon out of it. I still may put in some unfrozen river to fish for steelhead...nice not having to winterize it.
I will say that I miss a good "nor' easter" now that I live in MI. The sense of panic a day or two prior to the pending storm always gave me a good dose of adrenaline. Nothing like stopping at the grocery store for the essentials (well, beer) and standing in lines that go all the way back of the store.
I can still see grass here and the fishing was pretty good this past weekend for steelhead (as well as a bonus 7lb brown trout). Kind of wish we had a little snow here to make it feel like the holidays. Supposed to rain tomorrow and Wednesday here so it should be another hot weekend of steelhead, Good thing I never tire of them.:D Do miss the salt, though.:(

mansfieldsign,
I would say you had a good day,....a very good day.......certainly not ruined by the snowblower firing-up, or shovels that work........how depressing. Sure woulda been ruined if a nosey neighbor volunteered his, huh? The snow will melt, sooner or later, it always does, no reason to worry about it.
You had a good day. Savor it, for it will be a long time before you can back that fine craft into the water, breathe the incense of outboard motor exhaust, slam the throttle straight into the dashbord and feel the power of the beast, and most of all, experience the ecstacy of that first fish of the season straining to win the battle. That's the one that always goes back into the water, the first one, he did win.
You had a good day.
